# SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATER

### **PDF Butler – Simple Column Repeater**

The **Simple Column Repeater** allows data to repeat **column by column** in a table instead of the standard row-by-row repetition.

This is useful when you want to dynamically add columns for related records, such as Opportunities linked to an Account.

### **Important Notes**

- `SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATER` supports **column repetition only**.
- Row repetition cannot be combined within the same table.
- If the `SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATER` type is not available in your org, contact the PDF Butler support team.

### **Advanced Option – Complex Column Repeater**

PDF Butler also provides a **Complex Column Repeater**, which supports repeating both **columns and rows** within the same table.

For additional information and setup guidance, please contact the **Customer Success Team**.

### **1. Prepare the Word Template**

1. Open your Microsoft Word document.
2. Create a table structure for the data.
3. Insert the merge fields in the order you want the data to appear.
    Example:
If you want each related Opportunity to generate a new column, place the merge fields in the column that should repeat.
In this scenario, the second column will be repeated for every Opportunity linked to the Account.

4. Save the document.

---

### **2. Upload the Template**

1. Open your **Doc Config** in Salesforce.
2. Upload the Word document to the **Doc Config Documents** section.

---

### **3. Configure the Simple Column Repeater**

Ensure the required **Data Source** is already linked to the Doc Config.

1. Click **Add Config Type**.
2. Configure the following values:

#### **Config Type Settings**

- **Type** = `SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATER`
- **Merge Field** = The first merge field located in the column that should repeat
  - It is recommended that this merge field is placed in the **first row** of the repeating column.
- **Column Width Type** = Select how the repeated columns should behave:
  - **Same Width** → All generated columns keep the same width.
  - **Dynamic Width** → The original column width is divided among generated columns.

### **4. Add Child Config Types**

1. Create **Child Config Types** under the `SIMPLE COLUMN REPEATER`.
2. Add one child configuration for each merge field that should appear in the repeated column.
3. This can include the same merge field used when configuring the repeater.

---

### **5. Save and Generate the Document**

1. Click **Save to Server**.
2. Generate the document from your Salesforce record.
3. Verify that:
   - Data repeats **column by column**
   - Additional columns are generated dynamically
   - Table formatting remains correct
