Mia Pacey has built an impressive career in the Salesforce ecosystem, blending her passion for technology, teaching, and community building. As a Senior Salesforce Functional Consultant at the Australian Olympic Committee, she plays a key role in managing the Salesforce platform that supports Australia’s Olympic teams.
Beyond her work, Mia is a Sydney Salesforce User Group Leader, a Golden Hoodie recipient, and the creator of the Pace Yourself YouTube channel and Life with Goldie podcast, where she shares insights and amplifies stories from the ecosystem.
Finding Purpose in Salesforce
Mia’s introduction to Salesforce was unexpected but transformative. In 2019, she attended a Salesforce Bootcamp in Australia while working at Surf Life Saving NSW, a nonprofit organization. She had never logged into a Salesforce org before, yet after completing the training and earning her certification, she found herself drawn to the platform’s potential.
“I always need a purpose in what I’m doing,” Mia shared. That purpose-driven mindset led her to transition into an in-house Salesforce admin role, where she discovered her passion for streamlining operations and empowering users.
Receiving the Golden Hoodie: A Defining Moment
In 2020, Salesforce awarded Mia the Golden Hoodie—one of the highest honors in the Trailblazer Community. The moment came as a complete surprise. During a World Tour Sydney, she was presenting a customer success story when Salesforce unexpectedly recognized her contributions.
“You don’t realize how much you’re helping people until someone recognizes it,” she reflected. For Mia, the Golden Hoodie is more than just an award—it’s a platform to continue giving back and connecting with the global Salesforce community.
Sharing Knowledge: “Pace Yourself” and “Life with Goldie”
With a background in adult education and training, Mia naturally gravitated toward helping others understand Salesforce. Initially, she created short internal help videos to support her colleagues. Realizing that others in the community might also benefit, she launched her YouTube channel, Pace Yourself.
“People liked the way I explained things, so I started posting tutorials,” Mia said. While she hasn’t had time to post recently, she still enjoys sharing knowledge and making Salesforce more accessible.
Her Life with Goldie podcast was inspired by her Golden Hoodie recognition. Wanting to connect with and highlight fellow recipients, she began interviewing Golden Hoodies worldwide, exploring the unique yet shared experiences of those deeply engaged in the Salesforce ecosystem.
Leading the Sydney Salesforce User Group
After leading the Sydney Women in Tech group for a few years, Mia transitioned to the Sydney Salesforce User Group, where she fosters a collaborative learning space. She takes pride in making these gatherings community-focused and engaging, rather than overly corporate.
“It’s not about marketing or polished presentations,” Mia explained. “It’s about stripping it back to what really matters—connecting with other admins, learning from each other, and having real conversations.” The group provides a welcoming environment for Salesforce professionals in Sydney to share knowledge and grow together.
The Power of Community and Networking
For those looking to start or grow their Salesforce careers, Mia emphasizes the importance of community involvement.
“Go to community events and step outside your comfort zone. Introduce yourself to new people and build genuine connections,” she advised. She believes that attending user groups and engaging with the ecosystem opens doors that traditional job searching can’t.
Work-Life Balance and Life on the Beach
Outside of work, Mia embraces the Australian coastal lifestyle. Living near the beach, she spends her free time surfing, swimming, and volunteering as a surf lifesaver. She and her husband also cherish their breakfast outings, a cultural staple in Australia.
“A lot of people assume Australians love dinner outings, but for us, breakfast is a big deal. It’s how we connect with friends and family,” she shared.
Final Thoughts
Mia’s journey in the Salesforce ecosystem is a testament to community, continuous learning, and passion-driven work. Whether through her leadership, content creation, or volunteering, she embodies what it means to be a Trailblazer.
“Salesforce isn’t just a platform—it’s a community where people help each other grow. That’s what makes it so special.”
