Community Spotlight: ThankGod Onyekachukwu Okoro

Meet ThankGod Onyekachukwu Okoro!

Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, ThankGod is a Salesforce administrator, mentor, and passionate advocate for African Trailblazers in the Salesforce ecosystem. In just three years, ThankGod has become a shining example of what dedication, resilience, and purpose-driven learning can achieve.

His Salesforce Journey

ThankGod’s journey with Salesforce began in 2022. With a degree in accounting and certifications in data and business analysis, he came across Salesforce while exploring tech programs through ALX Africa.

“I came across Salesforce. So I was like, what is Salesforce? What do they do here?

But curiosity led him to Google, where he discovered a career path that aligned with his skills and sparked something bigger.

He dove into the ALX training, completed three months of foundational learning, and began his technical training. Within six months, he had earned six certifications, including Salesforce Administrator, Platform App Builder, and Advanced Administrator.

“I kind of climbed the ladder very fast… Most times when people listen to my journey, they think I’ve been in the ecosystem for like 10 years.”

Turning Struggles into Strength

ThankGod’s rapid success didn’t come without challenges. Juggling a 9-to-5 job with long commutes to training hubs, he often found himself exhausted.

“I had to keep pushing because I knew what I wanted.”

The biggest hurdle came after training ended: finding his first Salesforce role.

“I felt like giving up. Jobs were not coming. But I told myself, Thank God, you’ve come too far to give up.”

His perseverance paid off. He landed roles, mentored others, and began volunteering in the community. Today, he works as a Salesforce Admin Managed Services at DigiTools Consulting and has mentored over 200 aspiring professionals.

Amplifying African Voices

Beyond his individual success, ThankGod is helping reshape the Salesforce ecosystem in Africa.

“When I joined in, the community in Nigeria was kind of low… But I saw people willing to change the narrative.”

He co-founded Africa Ohana, an initiative uniting professionals across African countries. The group has grown rapidly, with thriving communities in Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and more.

“I’m actually happy to be at the forefront of this. We’re giving hope to the hopeless and creating a narrative that it’s going to get better.”

The first Dreamin’ event in West Africa took place in Lagos, Nigeria, and the next will be held in Ghana. With Salesforce’s support and grassroots leaders like ThankGod, the ecosystem in Africa is thriving.

Advice for Trailblazers

To those just getting started in the ecosystem, whether in Africa or anywhere else, ThankGod shares these words of wisdom:

“There is nobody else like you in this world. You don’t have to figure it all out yourself… You don’t have to be ready. Just get started.”

He encourages newcomers to embrace the power of networking and build a personal brand.

“I made sure that the name ThankGod is a brand… Volunteer, connect with people, and enjoy your journey. Your little wins always matter.”

Beyond Salesforce

Outside of work, ThankGod is a huge football fan. He supports Chelsea, and he plays football in his free time. He also enjoys socializing, partying, and making new friends.

“All work and no play makes ThankGod a dull boy,” he joked. “Sometimes I have to step out of my comfort zone and just hang out with some friends.”
